Use My Sign In Info To Automatically Finish Setting Up My Device After An Update
So let’s say you got a Windows 10 update. The Windows started downloading updates for your Windows 10 PC. Once all the available updates are downloaded the system will try to install it.
In the phase of installing the Windows updates, it requires several restarts. Now, if the setting “use my sign in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update” is turned OFF Windows will not be able to complete the update installation process.
Why It’s Important?
Most of us have a password or PIN setup to login to the computer when we start or restart it.
So when Windows automatically restarts and try to finish the updates, it needs to get into your computer.
For this, the Windows creates a temporary token when that setting is turned ON so that it can log into your device and finish all the Windows installation process.
After Windows updates installation is done it will then expire the token and log out of the system automatically so you can log in with your credentials.
So guys check if you have that setting turned ON or not.
You can check it here:
Accounts > Sign-in options, beneath Privacy, you’ll find a new toggle called Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart.
If it is not set to ON just toggle it ON.
Note: This option isn’t available if your PC is joined to a domain or if work or email policies are applied to your PC.

Windows uses your Microsoft account username and password to get you to sign it. I do understand your concerns. But could you please check if you are able to get into your Microsoft account. If not please change your password again.
Thanks for this short and informative article on Use My Sign In Info To Automatically Finish Setting Up My Device After An Update!. I just enabled it and now my Windows 10 updates are going smoothly.
Nice to hear that Adrian
If Windows logs on by itself to finish an update, will it open the desktop to anyone near by to use the computer? or will it do so behind the scenes, where no one can just start using the computer without the need of a password?
if this works I say thank you
cool page man! windows is annoying with all the different accounts, especially for those of us who were not using windows 95. in school I won awards in programming (basic) but lived in nowherere town usa with no internet for half a decade or more…when I tried computing again years later the software alone pisssed me off, so I left them alone. then 2 kids later at 45 they need to do online crap for school, so everything since the spring update has been a ride. its really frustrating when you know exactly what a device can do, but not what steps you must take thru software to get there.
can you tell me how to check the box I have same picture as above. except above the toggle it says in red (*some if these setting are hidden or managed by your organization. some windows features are only available if you are using a Microsoft account or work account. how does syncing work.) I tried for days trying to sync its like its blocked. im signed into windows and Microsoft one drive I checked the settings please any help and thanks.
